Passive, semi-active, active and hybrid mass dampers: A literature review with associated applications on building-like structures

In this paper, a state-of-the-art literature review is presented emphasising on the development of control variants for mass damper schemes building-like structures. Additionally, systematic conducted addressing three relevant questions: What type preferable by associated industry? How are dampers distributed around world? Is industry following research? Through review, updated lists implementations and algorithm applications in real-life structures were compiled. 208 case-studies discussed total. It found that, 63% them refer to passive tuned dampers, 31% hybrid 4.0% active only 2% semi-active dampers. Regarding algorithms, controllers 24 driving semi-active, or presented. concluded that considerably lags behind latest structural research both regarding overall management.
